Systems Engineer - 3739

Metro Systems Inc. is seeking a Systems Engineer for our client in Pensacola, FL. 

The role requires broad engineering and operational experience with Microsoft technologies; and specifically, deep System Center technical experience with Configuration Manager, Orchestrator, and/or Operations Manager.  Candidates filling the role will be responsible for the design, installation and post-installation sustainment activities.  The candidate should have a history of having engineered successful solutions in the relevant products and support of such in technically complex environments.

  • Document new system components, or modifications to existing components
  • Ensure the security and integrity of system and product solutions
  • Understanding and ability to follow full life-cycle of project management
  • Lead, guide, train and mentor less experienced staff
  • Perform engineering tasks/assignments in support of business needs
  • Perform research, procurement, deployment and configuration of systems
  • Present clear, organized & concise information to audiences to enable business decisions
  • Provide input and make budgetary recommendations regarding staffing and equipment
  • Provide technical leadership in architecture discipline & development of IT solutions
  • Participate in on-call Rotation (as required) for emergency technical support and planned maintenance activities.
  • System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) – Engineering of Software Distribution, Software Updates, Operating System Deployment, Compliance Settings, Client Settings
  • System Center Products - Design, implementation, documentation, and support of infrastructure, agents, and reporting
  • System Center Orchestrator (SCO) - Engineering of Runbooks, Integration Packs
  • System Center Operations Manager (SCOM) – Engineering of Management Packs, overrides, Distributed Applications, Notifications


  • Word processing and spreadsheet software skills

  • Ability to manage complex full life-cycle IT projects or teams to include cost/resource/time estimation
  • Knowledge of and adherence to change control standards and procedures, problem resolution, and troubleshooting techniques
  • Expertise in one of more of the following System Center products:  Configuration Manager (SCCM) to Current Branch, Orchestrator (SCOrch), Operations Manager (SCOM)
  • Good working knowledge of PowerShell
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows
  • Good working knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, LDAP, Kerberos, DNS, TCP/IP, WMI, SNMP
  • Working knowledge of MS SQL Server 2012/2014/2016 usage and administration


  • SCORCH or System Center Orchestrator (SCO)
  • Familiarity with SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services), SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services)
  • Familiarity with Vmware
  • Intermediate to Advanced experience in Azure Infrastructure as a Service (Azure IaaS)
  • Expert experience in System Center Operations Manager (SCOM) and/or System Center Orchestrator (SCO)
  • Advanced experience in Windows Server operating systems including versions 2008R2, 2012R2, and optionally 2016
  • Advanced experience in scripting with Windows PowerShell
