Page Designer/Editor - 3628

MSI is seeking a Page Designer/Copy Editor to perform various editorial and production tasks in the Communications Unit of the DOJ. 


Position Description:  This is a full-time Page Designer / Copy Editor / Production Assistant to support our customer the Bureau of Justice Statistics, part of the NCJRS Communication program with the U.S. Department of Justice.

Position Responsibilities:

  • The successful candidate will design, proof, and correct report pages and collaborate with editors both in-house and remotely to create figures and tables.
  • An eye for proper page layout, an interest in emerging data visualization trends, and an ability to create new designs for publications and marketing collateral are also required.

 Skills:

  • Have expertise in Adobe Creative Suite for InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator; Microsoft Word; and Excel.
  • Possess clean design, writing, and editing skills.
  • Adhere to stringent quality standards with attention to detail.
  • Be able to work with authors and editors to meet the demands of producing more than 100 publications a year.
  • Have the ability to work in a MAC and PC environment.
  • Have a portfolio showing a range of work.

Essential Functions:

  • Apply set styles to produce clean layouts.
  • Interpret raw data into intelligible figures.
  • Spot and fix design errors.
  • Work well in a team environment.
  • Meet deadlines.

Minimum Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree. Four (4) years of directly relevant work experience creating art work, still media, animation, and other visual images.
  • Formatting and producing artwork and illustrations for use in technical materials, manuals, reports, or other products. Requires knowledge of style guidelines.

Security Clearance: Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance. (Candidate cannot start in the position until completing security clearance and receiving approval from the government.)
