Cable Technician - 3613

Metro Systems Inc. is looking for Cable Technicians to join our rapidly expanding team in Washington, DC. 

Major Job Elements:

  • Communicates regularly with the Customer, Foreman, and/or Project Manager, to stay abreast of changes in work task and deadlines.
  • Coordinates the day-to-day work assignments and schedule of crewmembers, which may consist of temp labor and sub-contractors.
  • Interacts with the client, contractors and vendors on the job site. May attend contractor meetings.
  • Creates a positive work environment on the job site at all times.
  • Assures that all work is at the quality level expected by management.
  • Verifies work hours of crew members on a daily basis.
  • Delegates work tasks to crew members and verifies that work delegated is being completed within a reasonable amount of time and meets the company’s quality standards.
  • Must comply with all company policies and procedures.
  • Helps to maintain a safe work environment for all crew members.
  • Works as a crew leader, which installs cable, supports, and miscellaneous hardware found in telecommunication systems and networks
  • May work and direct a crew of 2 to 4 installers and helpers while under the supervision of a Foreman or Supervisor.
  • Assists in all aspects of the project as directed by the Foreman or Supervisor.
  • Updates customer prints and documentation as required.
  • Completes work orders, material transfer forms, and other documentation required by the company.


  • 3+ years of telecommunications installation experience.
  • Must have a thorough understanding of EIA/ TIA Standards.
  • Will have a thorough working knowledge of most widely used installation, termination and testing procedures along with the use of any associated hardware and equipment.
  • Fiber optic cabling experience to include termination, testing and troubleshooting preferred/not required.
  • BICSI Certification preferred/not required.
  • Industry Certifications a plus. (i.e. CommScope, Hilti, Tyco, Panduit, etc.)
  • Must be able to stoop, kneel, or crouch.
  • Must be able to climb ladders and perform the necessary work while on the ladder.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs and carry 25 lbs.
  • High school education or equivalent.
  • Must have own tools
  • Overtime may be required. May be required to work varying shifts.
  • Ability to travel to multiple locations within the Northern Virginia and Metropolitan DC area.
