Sr. Network Engineer - 3581

Metro Systems Inc. is looking for a Senior Network Engineer to support a federal project in Rosslyn, VA.


  • Demonstrates subject matter expertise in Network Security, Secure Remote access, Firewall Management, Security Information, Event management, and Next Generation Firewalls
  • Coordinates efforts onsite with and reports results to the Director of IT.
  • Provides Operations and Maintenance for all Trusted Internet Connection (TIC) components, all external connections (VPNs), all routing and switching environment, the Next Generation Firewall, the Remote access solution, and Security Information Event Management.
  • Provides Network and Security engineering support for internal systems integration projects such as the cloud based services, VOIP, virtualized infrastructure, server and storage environment
  • Documents security operations, network diagrams, security best practices.
  • Experience with ITIL service management is desirable, but not mandatory.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must hold an active secret clearance.
  • 5-7+ years as Network Engineer, at least 2 or more in intermediate or senior level capacity. Experience with switching (Juniper is a plus) and secure remote VPN (Pulse Secure is a plus) connectivity. 1 or more years hands-on with Palo Alto firewall technology is required. Prior experience with Palo Alto Panorama is desired.
  • This candidate must be able to work in a multi-functional, fast paced, high intensity team environment, work closely with other contractors/vendors as well as our customer directly, provide ad hoc advice/presentation support/attend meetings as needed with little or no notice, wear many hats
  • Must be able to document the architecture; VISIO is acceptable.
  • Must be able to work with the team to maintain the network in collaboration with our customer
  • Must be available to work weekends and after hours occasionally when needed
  • Must be able to communicate well, frequently and clearly with the customer in every step of the design, configuration, etc.         
  • Must have leadership experience and ability to be the primary POC for projects and able to report progress weekly
