Telecommunications Technician - 3533

MSI is seeking a Telecommunications Technician to work with our client with experience in network and telecommunications applications. The ideal candidate with have a basic knowledge of all areas of telecommunications and must be able to analyze trouble reports and perform maintenance of telecommunications equipment. 

Responsibilities: 
Under general supervision, this fully competent role is responsible for moderately complex tasks typically relating to network monitoring, operations, installation, and/or maintenance. An incumbent is assigned specific projects within an individual business unit. Ability to respond effectively and timely to the needs and requirements of the business units. Must provide personal availability and maintain rotation on call status.

Qualifications:

  • 5 years of telecommunications experience is required
  • High School or GED preferred.
  • Experience with Avaya Communications Manager G450 with S8300 IP- PBX including internal CCM voicemail system experience required
  • Experience working with Transmission Test sets or similar military experience required.
  • Must have a working knowledge of electronics including AC/DC circuits, digital and analog circuits, DSO, DS1, DS3, PRI, T-1, POTS Line, OPX, FXS, FXO, E&M Tie lines, CO; 48V DC/135V DC
  • Experience with the following:
    • Test sets: T1, BERT test, PRI testing, DMM, Radio Frequency testing, Voice Frequency testing
    • Channel banks/MUX, Coastcom, SCADA
    • Data Copper Cable termination, 66M, 110 block
    • 2-way radio, Base Stations
    • Installation of Routers, Switches, Network elements
  • Experience working with Microware and SONET facilities.
  • Knowledge and understanding of computers, wireless, and satellite equipment.
  • Knowledge and understanding of telephone cable and Fiber Optic cable installation and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to troubleshoot digital and analog telecommunications circuits including DSO, DS1, DS3 and PRI facilities.
  • Must be willing and able to travel about 200 miles per day on occasion. Able to respond effectively to diverse demands.
  • Ability to respond effectively and timely to the needs and requirements of the business units.
  • Must provide personal availability and maintain rotation on call status.
  • Self-starter and effective time management skills required
  • Must be able to lift 45 pounds. Must be able to see color and distinguish between colors.
