IT Infrastructure Admin - 3499


PURPOSE:

Candidate will be responsible for setup, configuration, monitoring and support of corporate IT infrastructure equipment including, but not limited to, routers, firewalls, switches, servers, storage area network, wireless bridges and access points.  Candidate will assist the infrastructure team in the design and architecture of WAN, LAN, Campus and building specific structured cabling plans and overall network layout.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Primary VMWare, Server, Storage, Exchange, SharePoint, and Backup administrator
  • Monitor, respond to, troubleshoot, repair and document resolution of all company infrastructure I.T. hardware, operating system, firmware and software issues
  • Assist with corporate network design and layout
  • Conduct responsibilities and duties with a high level of customer service
  • Determine root cause of infrastructure I.T. hardware and software issues
  • Efficient deployment of infrastructure I.T. hardware and software in local and local remote offices
  • Assist with evaluation of infrastructure I.T. hardware and software to determine the effectiveness for business needs
  • Regularly track, recommend and perform infrastructure hardware and software upgrades and patches
  • Work with 3rd party support technicians to efficiently achieve infrastructure issue resolutions
  • Provide technical assistance to IT team members including desktop support specialists
  • Contribute resolutions, answers and ideas to larger group of technicians.
  • Support remote locations through company WAN and on-site visits.
  • Assist with advanced infrastructure equipment level functions such as VLAN segmentation and SAN configuration
  • Create and maintain documentation
  • Participate in after-hours 24x7 on-call rotation for multiple locations.
  • Provide consultation on complex projects
  • Assist Desktop Support team

QUALIFICATIONS

Technical Skills

7+ years experience working with and troubleshooting the following technologies:

  • VMWare
  • Cisco switches, routers, RF bridges and access points
  • Dell switches
  • VoIP technology
  • Microsoft Server Operating System
  • Microsoft Active Directory
  • Microsoft Exchange Server
  • Microsoft SharePoint
  • Blade System Hardware
  • Linux Operating System
  • SonicWALL Firewall and Mail Gateway systems
  • WAN, LAN and Campus networking including Fiber Optic technologies
  • SAN technologies and concepts

Education and/or Experience

  • Excellence in technical troubleshooting
  • Bachelors degree in computer related area of study or equivalent
  • Industry certifications preferred (MCP, A+, etc.)
  • 7+ years experience with technical customer service
  • Experience working in a collaborative small team environment
  • Experience working individually to resolve complex issues

Language Skills

Candidate must have:

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, correspondence, and memos as well as complex and advanced technical manuals, upgrade and installation scripts and release notes. 
  • Ability to write correspondence. 
  • Ability to effectively communicate with superiors, clients, and the general public. 

Mathematical Skills

Candidate must have:

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide. 
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions. 

Reasoning Ability

Candidate must have:

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form
  • Ability to work independently, using sound judgment without close supervision
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment
  • Ability to effectively deal with stressful situations and interruptions.
