Network Engineer - 3472

MSI is seeking a Network Engineer to support our government client in Arlington, Va.


Job Description:

  • Designs and plans network systems. Provides specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture.
  • Provides specific, detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques, and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements.
  • Conducts testing of network systems. Maintains technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, switchers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc.
  • Evaluates and reports on new network technologies to enhance capabilities of the network.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide network engineering support for network projects. 
  • Analyze IT related client needs, technical evaluations, investigative and report work. Provide Tier 3 network assistance and troubleshooting for service operation escalated issues.
  • Maintain engineering diagrams. 
  • Specify and recommend new network communications related services and projects to existing IT solutions and services.
  • Plan and implement activities to ensure successful delivery of projects and services, including the execution and documentation of testing to required standards.
  • Plan and implement any improvement, modification, or replacement of network infrastructure components. 
  • Conduct research on network products, services, protocols, and standards in support of network procurement and development efforts. 
  • Interact with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure network products and services.
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and associated training for network resource administration, appropriate use, and disaster recovery.
  • Analyze network topologies and traffic and capacity requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Education: BS or equivalent + 2 yrs.’ related experience, or MS + 0 yrs.’ experience
  • Candidates with additional work experience may be considered in lieu of degree. 
  • Must have knowledge with frequent use and application of technical standards, principles, theories, concepts and techniques
  • Provides solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
  • ITIL V3 Foundation – ITIL
  • CompTIA - Security+
  • Active DoD SECRET or Interim SECRET clearance required

Desired:

  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Security 
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Routing and Switching
