MSI is seeking a Junior DevOps Engineer to support our government client in Bethesda, MD!


Job Description:

MSI is seeking a Junior/Mid-level Dev Ops Engineer for our government client. The qualified applicant will become part of a group of qualified and diverse individuals building the next generation data warehouse of biomedical data for NIH.

Junior/Mid-level Dev Ops Engineer to work collaboratively with software engineers to deploy and operate various systems.  Additionally, the candidate will help automate and streamline operations and processes by building and maintaining tools for deployment, monitoring, and operations on both Windows and Linux platforms.  The ideal candidate will also be able to troubleshoot and resolve issues in development, test, and production environments.

Responsibilities for this Position:

  • Candidates must demonstrate a sophisticated understanding of various DevOps engineering principals and techniques.
  • The Dev Ops Engineer position requires a Bachelor’s degree in systems or software engineering plus 2 years of relevant experience, or 6 years of experience in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for obtaining and maintaining a Public Trust Clearance.

 Must Have:

  • Building pipelines in and configuring Jenkins.
  • Building Dockerfiles and deploying to Docker
  • Ability to use a wide variety of open source technologies.
  • Experience with SQL, SQL Server, and Elasticsearch.
  • Strong experience understanding a variety of code and writing snippets and scripts in Groovy.
  • Solid understanding of Git and GitFlow principals.

 Nice to Have: 

  • Operating in Azure.
  • Configuring and tuning Logstash.
  • Building Kibana Dashboards.
  • Building and deploying .NET Core stacks.
  • Experience with automation/configuration management using Puppet, Chef or an equivalent.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment.

 Additional Responsibilities:

  • Testing – Develop automated and manual tests to ensure the validity of the DevOps artifacts.
  • PKI - Leverage understanding of PKI to add/update certificates.
  • Networking - Troubleshoot networking/connectivity issues.
  • Containers – Troubleshoot problems with Docker containers.
  • Help develop operational architectures.
