Jr. LInux Systems Engineer - 3441

MSI is seeking a Linux Systems Engineer, with a focus on security to support our government client in Reston, Va.


Key Role:

Collaborate with software engineering and infrastructure engineering staff members to design, develop, build, analyze, evaluate, and deploy Linux-based systems. Implement systems in accordance with the relevant DoD Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG). Coordinate design decisions and tailor implementation plans to the needs of other engineering teams, as appropriate. Support software development and test infrastructure in an administrative capacity and create and modify engineering and other technical documents. Assist with independent verification and validation efforts, as appropriate. Lead or participate in integrated project teams and assist with the development and implementation of Splunk, Tanium, and DevOps pipeline. Perform data transfer officer duties implementing new technologies and methodologies to streamline transfers. This position is not available for remote delivery and is located in Reston, VA.


 Basic Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience with Linux systems engineering
  • Experience with administering, maintaining, and deploying Linux OS and applications and updates
  • Experience with mass deployment technologies
  • Experience with the creation and maintenance of engineering documentation
  • Active TS/SCI clearance
  • BA or BS degree in Information Security, Computer Science, or Cybersecurity
  • Vendor Operating System Certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
  • DoD 8570.01M Certification required
  • Completion of a Lead Data Transfer Officer Program

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience with deploying and patching Red Hat systems
  • Experience with Tanium and Twistlock
  • Experience with Splunk or other SIEM tools
  • Experience with DevOps, including Docker and Selenium
  • Knowledge of Cross-Domain Solutions
  • Knowledge of various scripting languages
  • Ability to develop specific expertise, discern patterns of complex threat actor behavior, and communicate a comprehension of current and developing Cyber threats
  • CISSP or Security+ CE Certification
