Technologist - 3295

Job Summary:
This role will combine expertise in technical disciplines (e.g. data center infrastructure, application workflow design, web services design, database design, virtualization, security, etc.) as well as business functions.

This position is responsible for implementing IT ecosystems, and collaborating with product owners. Provide guidance on complex projects and delivery to business units for the department. The Technologist will devise strategies regarding time to delivery, design best practices, availability, and cost reductions to going company needs.

Must have excellent communication skills including writing, listening, and verbal. Capable of translating tech nical topics to business sponsors and executives. Interpersonal communication skills are necessary in order to lead and partner with all areas of day-to-day operations.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Actively and consistently supports all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience
Provide expertise, direction, coordination, and consultation for new and existing products and solutions

Create and drive solutions in alignment with the Company's overall vision and business goals

Engage and influence all major business stakeholders on their respective strategic initiatives that have significant infrastructure dependencies

Translate the business strategy into a technical roadmap that brings it to life

Promote use of innovative new technology and best practices for Business Units or Enterprise-wide new product and solution initiatives

Understanding of financial processes and ability to provide clients with cost estimates.

Lead additional IT resources as needed to fulfill the demands of the role

Conduct research focused on identifying emerging technology solutions that reduce costs, increase efficiencies, provide more value, provide more capabilities and reduces risk

Assess requirements and recommend solutions that meet business needs in alignment with IT standards and strategic direction

Communicate best practices by giving presentations, working with project teams, and authoring content aimed at educating others about standards, strategies, and otherwise defined procedures

Participate in complex cross-domain and cross-functional matrixed project teams to implement solutions in a highly collaborative manner

Partner with the IT Portfolio Management Office (PMO) to organize and manage projects and programs that align to the overall corporate IT strategy


Required Qualifications:
Skills/Abilities and Knowledge
Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language to communicate with employees, customers, suppliers, in person, on the phone, and by written communications in a clear, straight-forward, and professional manner
Ability to demonstrate understanding of infrastructure technologies and concepts
Ability to demonstrate lateral thinking required to solve complex technical problems
Ability to collaborate well with others to solve problems and actively incorporate input from various sources
Ability to build consensus across interdisciplinary environments (technical teams, and client domains)
Ability to schedule and lead discussions with Project Owners and Subject Matter Experts
Ability to perform duties in a very fast pace environment and ability to learn new technology quickly
Ability to demonstrate working knowledge and experience with Waterfall and Agile development methodology
Demonstrated knowledge in compute, storage, infrastructure architecture, protocols and network topology
Demonstrated knowledge of hardware and appliances
Demonstrated knowledge designing and understanding Dataflow Diagrams using Visio or similar tools
Demonstrated knowledge of N-Tier Architecture and Project Management
Demonstrated knowledge of corporate financials (CapEx vs Opex)

Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, MIS, Engineering or related field or related work experience

Related Work Experience:
Experience designing or configuring systems and/or applications 8+ years
Project management work experience 6+ years
Technology agnostic and experience working with multiple technology stacks
Experience working in Telecommunications industry a plus

Previous experience working in Ariba, SAP, PeopleSoft Financials, OnBase, etc.
ITILv3 Foundations Certification
Knowledge of company products and services
