Enterprise Systems Administrator - 3223

MSI is seeking a mid and senior Systems Administrator to support our government client in Arlington, Va.

The Enterprise Systems Administrator maintains smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, including coordination with network engineers. Sets up administrator and service accounts, maintains system documentation, tunes system performance, installs system-wide software, and allocates mass storage space. Interacts with users and evaluates vendor products. Makes recommendations to purchase hardware and software, coordinates installation, and provides backup recovery. Develops and monitors policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources.


  • Daily responsibilities for the operation of a large enterprise government agency supporting Active Directory Windows 2008 R2.
  • Broad experience in systems administration of a large scale Windows network environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows network infrastructure.
  • Able to perform Active Directory administration in the following areas of DNS(Domain Name System), DFSR(Distributed File System Replication),GPO(Group Policy), OCSP(Online Certificate Status Protocol), Active Client CAC authentication, trouble shoot replication issues, recovery deleted user system administrator accounts or OU(organization Unit) structure.
  • Daily security of AD and responsible for implementing security patches and STIG implementation.
  • Provide preventative and remedial maintenance, coordinate equipment repair, replace or removal failed hardware.
  • Some knowledge of PowerShell and Meta Directory technologies.
  • Able to trouble shoot issues regarding Active Directory including forest, domain, and sites.
  • Familiar with the following tools: HBSS, SCOM, EHealth, and SCCM.



  • BS or equivalent + 2 years related experience, or MS + 0 years’ experience
  • Interim or Active Secret Clearance required
  • Certifications required: Security+ and ITIL Foundation (obtain before conversion)


  • Active Directory - Creating users, updating user accounts, putting users in different groups, setting permissions to users and groups. Leveling off with case to perform a lot of the updates for the servers for patching. Use Sonic wall (firewall) network system they use for security.
  • GPO - Moving users over to the different groups, creating groups.
  • Using the test system, he runs updates on works stations prior to do full updates and push patching to ensure no issues come along.
  • LDAP - Ensuring that the LDAP is configured properly on the security side.
  • Has DNS AND DHCP experience ensuring everything on the network is set correctly. Ensuring the correct security protocols are in place.
