Senior Systems Administrator - 2384

MSI is seeking a Senior Systems Administrator to support our client. This resource will maintain numerous scalable and highly available system environments. Monitor the servers, infrastructure and a broad base of software as well as troubleshoot problems across the entire architecture.  



  • Optimize and maintain Infrastructure, software and security for a variety of platforms including, but not limited to PeopleSoft, E-mail, Imaging, Financials and E-commerce.
  • Respond to on-call support and problem resolution.
  • Manage installations and configurations of various OS software packages and fixes.
  • Manage hardware installation and removal.
  • Identify and remediate capacity planning issues.
  • Move releases of code for various platforms including PeopleSoft and E-commerce.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain Windows and Linux network attached devices.
  • Maintain development, quality assurance, and training environments.
  • Manage in the maintenance and administration of the storage area network (SAN).
  • Plan and implement software upgrades and patches.
  • Support the department workload of Service Desk tickets, walk- up requests and e-mails.
  • Configure monitoring of systems to ensure SLA compliance along with Pro-actively monitor servers and respond to alerts.
  • Interpret and/or discuss information with others, which involves terminology or concepts not familiar to many people; regularly provide advice and recommend actions involving rather complex issues.
  • Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs
  • Willingly share knowledge, document procedures, troubleshooting methods and mentor others.
  • Drive cross functional problem-solving efforts.
  • Demonstrate excellence in troubleshooting skills, teamwork, time management, and communication skills.
  • Lead projects and tasks with limited supervision.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.



  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field or combination of relevant education and work experience.
  • Five (5) years of systems administration experience.
  • Advanced computer literacy.
  • Microsoft OS, Active Directory, Linux, AIX, Image Now, Lawson, PeopleSoft, Microsoft Exchange, Virtual Technologies, SAN fundamentals, Security fundamentals and TCP/IP.
